Coat of arms of Bjerkreim
Bjerkreim’s arms show, according to the municipality, a silver birch branch on green; the municipality links it to its explanation of the name as “birch home”.
Swedish description in the Heraldica record SV
The Swedish description in the Heraldica record is shown separately from the editorial text. Bjerkreim Municipality’s page describes the motif, colours and the municipality’s own explanation of the name.
I grönt fält en björkkvist av silver med utväxande sju björkblad av silver och med utväxande fyra blommor av silver.
The birch branch as the arms’ motif
Bjerkreim Municipality describes the arms as a silver birch branch on a green field. Its source gives both the motif and the colours, while this editorial text avoids adding details about how the branch or leaves are drawn.
The name explanation and adoption
The municipality says the name Bjerkreim is based on the form “Bjerkrheim”, which it explains as “the birch’s home”. Birch was therefore chosen as the arms’ central motif. The municipality states that the arms were selected in March 1985 and approved in the same year. The name explanation is presented as Bjerkreim Municipality’s own account.
