Coat of arms of Hå
Hå’s arms show a silver stone-lifting winch on black; the municipality links it to Jæren’s stony soil, land-clearing work and the union of three former municipalities.

A stone-lifting winch on black
Hå’s identity manual describes the arms as a silver steinbukk motif on a black field. The municipality clarifies that the official heraldic term is vinsjestativ, a winch stand. In technical uses, silver may be represented as white, though the municipality prefers silver where practical and appropriate.

From stony Jæren to a municipal emblem
The manual connects the motif with Jæren’s stony soil and the work of clearing stones to make land cultivable. Stands of this type were used to lift heavy stones before tractors and excavators; according to the municipality, they came to Jæren from Scotland in 1835, and the Underhaug factory at Nærbø made them for local conditions. In the municipality’s interpretation, black represents earth and silver represents water and the sea. The three legs are linked to Nærbø, Varhaug and Ogna, which merged to form Hå in 1964. Work on the arms began in 1988, and the design was approved in 1991.
