A shield divided by a clover-leaf line

Rakkestad Municipality describes the arms as divided gold and green by a clover-leaf line. Truls Nygård designed the arms, which were approved by Royal Resolution on 11 July 1975.

The municipality’s interpretation of the leaves

In the municipality’s explanation, the clover leaves refer to Rakkestad’s agricultural character. The two leaves pointing down represent agriculture and forestry, while the other three stand for crafts, trade and industry. The municipality also links the upward-facing leaves to its three church parishes; this is its interpretation, not a heraldic blazon.
