Coat of arms of Randaberg

Randaberg’s blue municipal arms have silver circles arranged along the edge of the shield. The municipality’s own explanation links the round forms to coastal pebbles and burial mounds in the area.

Swedish description in the Heraldica record SV

The automatically assembled Swedish description in the Heraldica record is kept separate from the editorial text; it is not confirmed here as the municipality’s official blazon.

The motif and the municipality’s interpretation

Randaberg’s design manual describes a blue shield with 14 silver coins along its edge. In the municipality’s brochure about the arms, the committee explains that the round stone forms refer to the pebbles at Børaunen and to burial mounds in the municipality. The formal motif description is kept distinct from this local interpretation.

Design and approval

Randaberg Municipality says Truls Nygaard designed the arms after preliminary work by Magnus Hardeland, and that they were approved by royal resolution on 26 June 1981. The municipal brochure says residents were invited to comment on the proposals before the choice was made.
