The municipality’s explanation
Boden Municipality’s brochure about the arms says they were established in 1919 and that the wall and gate tower symbolize Boden Fortress. The brochure also describes later changes to the artwork; these do not alter the verbal description of the arms.
Heraldic elements
The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
