Background in the municipal sources

Eda Municipality says Eda Skans was the only one of 18 proposed designs approved in 1948. The Peace Monument at Morokulien was proposed first but did not receive heraldic approval; some considered the fort a reminder of conflicts between Sweden and Norway. When the present municipality formed in 1971, the earlier arms were approved again.
