Background in local sources

The local publication Eksjö & co reports that the old oak at the I12 site is also called “Eksjö arms” and later served as a model for the town arms; the tree’s exact age is unknown. Eksjö Municipality says its current municipal mark combines the heraldic arms with the words “Eksjö kommun”.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
