The arms and their blazon

In the municipality’s 1952 account, the forked cross represents the railway junction between Växjö, Kalmar and Karlskrona; the crossbow motif comes from Södra Möre.

Background in the municipal sources

The municipality explains the forked cross as an important railway junction. The crossbow refers to Södra Möre hundred, which included Vissefjärda until 1889. The arms were completed on 6 November 1952 and became the arms of the present municipality in the 1972 reorganisation.
