The arms and their description

The Heraldica record describes four gold lilies set crosswise on blue. The image is simple, but the lily motif has a long history in the town seal.

Background in local sources

A local area analysis by Enköping Centrum says the lilies appear in the oldest known seal, from the fourteenth century. It connects them with the Virgin Mary and the town’s Vårfrukyrka. The same source says the arms were confirmed in 1928 and registered for the new municipality in 1974; these were separate events.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
