The arms and their blazon

The municipal manual says the arms were designed in 1944. The winged wheel symbolises the railway, the wavy division the Strömsholm Canal, and the iron mark the local iron industry; the lily is a reworking of herb Paris.

Background in the municipal sources

The municipality explains that the railway and canal were important transport systems for Fagersta’s iron production. It connects the lily with herb Paris, said to have inspired the mark used to stamp iron in the seventeenth century.
