Background in local sources

Flen Municipality says the graphic identity approved in 2026 keeps the municipal arms and the Sörmland heart mark separate: the arms identify the municipal organisation, while the heart marks the place. The municipality says both were modernised and clarified, not that the arms’ motifs were replaced.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
