Background in local sources
According to Gullspång Municipality’s own guideline, the salmon refers to an economically important variety of Gullspång salmon, and the gold bar represents the golden footbridge over the river. The crown recalls the historic Battle of Hova in 1275, where King Valdemar lost his crown to his brother Magnus Ladulås. These are interpretations published by the municipality.
