Swedish description in the Heraldica record

I blått fält en ginstam av silver med tre valv.

This is the Swedish description in the Heraldica record. Its status as an official blazon has not been independently verified here. The municipal guideline quotes a version with different spelling, which is reported separately.

Motifs and wording of the description

The Heraldica record describes a silver ginstam motif with three arches on blue. Högsby Municipality’s graphic profile quotes an arms book that spells the corresponding word “gnistam”. The difference is left unresolved; this text does not assume that the spellings certainly refer to the same technical term.

The municipality’s account of the motif

Högsby Municipality says the arms were established in 1961 and that the motif comes from the Emån and Tingbron in the central locality. It also says the 2006 version aimed to return to the original colours and forms.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
