Anchor, crown and monogram

A golden anchor topped by a crown stands on a blue field, with the monogram C XI laid across it in gold. The registry describes the design but does not assign a separate symbolic meaning to the anchor.

The arms and the municipality’s current symbol

The archival register records the motif on a seal from 1682; the arms were confirmed by the Crown in 1943 and registered in 1974. Karlskrona Municipality describes its current symbol as a stylised version of the city arms. The graphic symbol is therefore distinct from the heraldic description of the arms.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
