Coat of arms of Leksand

The National Archives of Sweden’s guidance on municipal arms uses Leksand’s arms to illustrate a mural crown as an addition to a depiction. The guidance distinguishes such a visual accessory from the registered arms.

The National Archives’ guidance discusses heraldic arms and uses Leksand’s arms as an illustration. The automatically assembled Swedish description in the Heraldica record is separate registry information, not the Archives’ caption for the image.

The mural crown as an addition to a depiction

The National Archives’ guidance page shows Leksand’s municipal arms topped with a mural crown. Its caption identifies the arms of Leksand and credits Vladimir Sagerlund, heraldic artist at the National Archives. The example image is not itself a verbal blazon.

The distinction between an image and registered arms

The guidance explains that a mural crown is a historical accessory that may appear in a depiction without being part of the registered prototype. It uses the Leksand image to illustrate this distinction; it does not say that the crown forms part of Leksand’s registered blazon.

Heraldic elements

The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
