Swedish description in the Heraldica record
I blått fält ett långskepp av guld.
The Swedish wording in the Heraldica record is registry information. Lidingö City’s history page gives the blazon and distinguishes the official arms from later logo versions.

The city’s blazon
Lidingö City describes the arms simply: a gold Viking ship on a blue shield. The current official city arms shown on the page date from 1974.
The choice of charge and later depictions
Lidingö chose the Viking ship in late 1927 after considering several other proposals. The city notes that the earlier explanation connecting the name Lidingö with liding and then ledung, a naval expedition, was not generally accepted. According to the page, researchers today instead connect the name with ludhen, meaning a furry or vegetation-covered island. The official arms from 1974 should be distinguished from the logo shield made in 1981 and the redesigned logo from 2022.
Heraldic elements
The heraldic elements are identified using HERO, a heraldry ontology published through Finland's Finto service. It provides structured terminology for describing coats of arms and their components. The list describes the structure of the arms, not the symbolic meaning of its elements.
