The arms’ design

The municipality’s guide identifies the tools as a mining hammer and a mining iron, and connects the arms’ symbols with silver mining. It also notes that the crescent was debated for years.

Background and the source’s interpretation

Sala says use of the arms’ symbols is documented on seals and coins from before the city’s oldest privileges in 1624. The city arms were established in 1948 and became the new municipality’s arms in 1971.
