The description in the municipal graphic manual

Sigtuna Municipality’s graphic manual describes the arms in its logo as a blue shield with a gold crown between three six-pointed silver stars. This is the depiction described in the municipal manual; it does not prescribe the details of any particular drawing.

The motif’s history and the municipality’s interpretation

The municipality says the arms were established in 1971, when Sigtuna Municipality was formed by merging Sigtuna and Märsta. The motif had appeared earlier on Sigtuna city’s seal in 1311. The manual says the crown denotes an important place and may suggest that the city was a royal seat. The municipality says the original meaning of the three stars is not known.
